Night Lights, Rolleiflex Style

untitled, originally uploaded by photomat-.

Taken at City Center, Las Vegas.

There are many things I love about shooting medium format film cameras, but the main two are looking down on to the focusing screen with a waist level finder and the shallower depth of field you get. With the waist level finder, although it’s laterally reversed, I find it easier to compose a shot this way than with a traditional eye level viewfinder as I can see the whole image clearly. In the case of this shot, shooting at f/5.6, it came out exactly as I pictured it in my mind.
